Bare Bones Basics is a great class for both beginning, recovering-from-injury, and even advanced practitioners. We break the poses down and move slowly through them with mindful awareness of the principles of movement, the mechanics of the body, and fluidity of the breath to cultivate a subtle intelligence in our practice. It is easy to break a sweat and flow thoughtlessly from one pose to the next, but that would not be a true yoga practice.
For beginners, slow and precise is where you should start. For the injured, slow and mindful is key to healing! For the advanced, it takes a whole new level of commitment to the practice to challenge the ego and move through the asanas with steady precision, patience, and kind curiosity.
When you understand the basics well, you can launch into a beautiful and deeply enriching practice that will stay with you for life both on and off the mat. I know this to be true because it is my own experience.
